Three men suspected of fraud were arrested overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Orléans (Loiret).

They were visibly pretending to be police officers and trying to verbalize motorists, reports

La République du Center

.

It was a young 20-year-old driver who gave the alert around midnight after dealing with the three crooks in Saran (Loiret).

He explained that he was "checked" by plainclothes police, driving a Mercedes registered in Switzerland, for an alleged speeding.

Taken into custody the same evening

Suspicious, the driver refused to pay the fine of 135 euros.

The three suspects, unable to present a police armband or a business card, would then have tried to negotiate the amount to extract 50 euros from him.

The suspected crooks were arrested a few minutes later in Orleans.

In police custody, they partially admitted the facts.

They will soon be tried for “attempted fraud by public use of a police sign”.
