The times the maternity ward in Lycksele has had to close in the past, they have still been able to handle emergency gynecology such as bleeding and abdominal pain on site in Lycksele.

But now there are no medical resources to handle it.

vk.se was the first to report on this.

With the help of doctors who travel from the coast to Lycksele and the operation manager jumping in himself, it is possible to help a few booked patients on the spot.

But nothing urgent.

- I have been in and worked and may have to do it again, says Olov Grankvist, director of operations at the Center for Obstetrics and Gynecology in Region Västerbotten.

He sees no solution until the region resolves the procurement of rental personnel for the entire department.

The ambulance has received new guidelines

At Tärnaby infirmary, Lena Bitén Forsberg is a midwife and head of department.

She states that there will be much longer journeys for patients in her area seeking gynecological care.

- There will be another 13 miles.

But it is mainly those who are pregnant who are worried.

And we can handle some gynecology on site, such as urinary problems and miscarriages that are not too urgent.

She also points to the importance of the ambulance.

- They have received temporary guidelines that apply to both emergency gynecology and childbirth and have been told what to do if something very urgent happens, such as bleeding, says Lena Bitén Forsberg.
