Three people were killed, Tuesday, in a shooting that occurred in the city of Yakima, in the US state of Washington, following two similar mass shootings that have left 18 people dead since Saturday.

Yakima Police Chief Matt Murray said the tragedy occurred inside a grocery store around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

He told reporters that the shooter, whose name was Jared Haddock (21 years), fled, armed and "posing a danger to the residents."

The police chief confirmed that the investigators do not yet know the motives of the attacker, noting that the shooting left three dead.

According to Murray, the shooting happened suddenly and without warning, as "there was no apparent conflict between the people" who were in the place.

According to CCTV footage at the grocery store, "the guy walked in and just started shooting," according to the police chief.

Murray added that the gunman "then walked out of the store, shot one of the victims, then crossed the street and apparently shot another person."

Then, the attacker stole a car and fled in it.

Yakima Police issued, through its Twitter account, appeals to residents, urging them to be careful.

The police stressed in their warnings that "the suspect is armed and dangerous... do not approach him."

The Yakima Police Department posted photos of the suspected gunman on its Facebook account, announcing the start of a search for him.

Earlier Tuesday, US President Joe Biden renewed his demand for Congress to ban assault weapons, following successive shootings in the United States over the past week.

And yesterday, 7 people were killed and 3 others were seriously injured, in two shooting incidents in northern California, USA.

The two incidents took place on farms close to each other, south of San Francisco, according to the American Al-Hurra channel.

This incident comes two days after a 72-year-old man of Asian descent killed 11 people inside a dance hall near Los Angeles during a celebration marking the Chinese Lunar New Year.
