On August 20, the police arrested five people from Eskilstuna and Örebro and at the same time confiscated two pistols, silencers and ammunition.

Later that day, another person was arrested when he tried to hide four pistols, ammunition, silencers and other accessories in a forest outside Eskilstuna.

After this, the police seized several weapons.

- It is very gratifying that we have managed to come across a relatively large number of weapons that we believe were intended to be used in the criminal environment in Eskilstuna and Örebro, which has recently been hit hard by gun violence, says Chamber Prosecutor Nicklas Hjertonsson in a press release.

Men between 15 and 50 years

Several people have been suspected during the course of the investigation and today seven men between the ages of 15 and 50 are charged.

The suspects come from Eskilstuna, Örebro and Stockholm.

One of them, a man in his 20s, is accused of possessing and selling at least 14 firearms in the past year.

- Through a longer intelligence operation where the police have turned over a large number of stones, I believe that we now have a good picture of the various roles and participation of the accused men.

Among other things, there are clear indications that one of the seized weapons was used in an attempted murder in Örebro in March 2022, says Nicklas Hjertonsson.
