The assault was taken very seriously.

Above all, it had caused a stir in the ranks of the school district of Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique).

On January 17, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed while smoking a cigarette in a street behind the Aristide-Briand high school.

Monday, the only suspect of this attack was judged in immediate appearance before the criminal court.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, one of which was suspended, reports

Ouest-France

.

The man accused of stabbing is 19 years old and of Chadian origin.

Already convicted of acts of violence, he admitted having struck but denied the knife attack.

Several witnesses have however identified him as the aggressor of the high school student, who had been injured in the throat and had lost blood on the sidewalk of the rue d'Arsonval.

Testimonies that weighed in the court's decision, which also relied on the possible burn mark left by the victim's cigarette.

The reason for the fight remains a mystery

In the case, no weapon was found and no DNA trace could be found.

We will also not know the reason for the altercation, which was not revealed during this trial.
