On the day of the tragedy, in March 2022, the man and the victim illegally practiced this extreme sport (close to bungee jumping) with a group of friends, above the Barbin viaduct, in Mortagne-sur-Sèvre .
But the defendant, a trained rope access technician and regular practitioner, had miscalibrated a rope: at the end of it, one of the participants had hit the ground and succumbed to his injuries.
The organizer of the outing, who was accused of "a series of errors" in terms of safety, immediately recognized his responsibility for the accident, specifies the daily.
The analyzes showed that he had not consumed alcohol or narcotics.
