The Consulate General of the State of Los Angeles (LA) has confirmed that there are no Korean victims as a result of checking the list of deaths in the Lunar New Year shooting that occurred in Monterey Park, California.

An official from the consulate general said, "We have officially received data on the death toll from the US authorities, and most of the victims who lost their lives in indiscriminate shooting on the day of the incident are presumed to be local residents of Chinese descent."

The official also explained that as a result of determining whether there was additional damage through the LA County Sheriff's Office and Korean organizations, it was confirmed that there were no other damages, including injuries, so far.

The Consulate General prayed for the victims' souls, saying that a tragic incident occurred in the Asian community during the Lunar New Year period.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, on the 21st, the day before Lunar New Year, 72-year-old Chinese resident Hugh Cantran opened fire at the Star Dance Studio, a dance school in Monterey Park, killing at least 11 people.

Tran fired 42 bullets with a pistol with a large capacity magazine inside and outside the school at the time, and it is known that most of the victims were elderly people in their 60s and 70s.
