Every day, Europe 1 looks at an idea or a problem in your daily life.

Three months after the passage of a tornado in the city of Conty in the Somme, the inhabitants could not see the roofs of their houses and the infrastructures of their city repaired.

In question ?

The shortage of craftsmen, roofers and tiles.

REPORTAGE

In October 2022, a tornado ravaged part of the town of Conty in the Somme.

Nearly 80 houses were blown up in the town.

Three months later, dozens of residents are spending the winter with a tarpaulin roof while waiting for the start of work.

The latter are being delayed because of a shortage of craftsmen, roofers and tiles, not to mention delays imposed by insurance.

No specific reconstruction date set

On the roof of Nathan's white house, the same blue tarps are fixed by wooden beams.

On a daily basis, this situation is embarrassing: "When it rains heavily, the water infiltrates even with the tarpaulins. We put basins from right to left. We are waiting for the roofer who should arrive soon. He was to come before Christmas. But hey, he has a lot of work …", explains Nathan at the microphone of Europe 1.

This wait is caused by a shortage of tiles but also by insurance response times.

Dozens of buildings are still waiting for their roofs to be repaired, including the primary school.

“The class was destroyed”, testifies a mother.

The episode marked some students, as Aurélie, mother of a little girl named Maelle, tells us.

"She was sad for the damage in her class and at school."

"We would like it to be repaired as soon as possible and with a solid reconstruction, but I think it will take one or two years before being rebuilt", explains another mother of a student.

The principal of the primary school confirms that no specific date for the reconstruction has been set.

In the meantime, four classes are accommodated in the college of Conty, spared by the tornado.
