After the police cleared the lecture halls on December 6, the Goethe University and the group "End Fossil" tried to establish a dialogue.

Last week, the climate activists met with representatives from the university at the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research.

The discussion was moderated by institute director Stephan Lessenich and political science professor Uta Ruppert.

No concrete results were reported after the meeting.

"End Fossil" then announced that the group recognized the university's general willingness to process the events of the eviction.

The activists occupied the Audimax on the Westend campus and demanded more commitment to climate protection;

the university cleared the room that same evening.

Now "End Fossil" has asked the university executive committee to "recreate the discursive space together with us" after the "taboo breaking" by the police operation.

This requires a "university-public review" by February 10 and subsequent public discussions about the group's substantive demands.

Ruppert was quoted by the students as saying that she found their "clarity and objectivity impressive" and "their views absolutely convincing".

A public event would support them.

The university executive board announced that they were still willing to exchange content-related questions.
