A deep hole formed in the garden of a house on Monday evening in the village of Critot (Seine-Maritime).

It is four meters wide and five meters deep, reports France Bleu Normandie.

Alerted around 7 p.m., the firefighters noted the presence of this underground cavity.

They quickly set up a security perimeter.

As a precaution, two houses were evacuated.

The six people occupying the premises had to be relocated.

An expert from the Geological and Mining Research Bureau (BRGM) must be dispatched to the site this Tuesday afternoon, specifies France 3 Normandy.

His analyzes could indicate that this hole is a marl, a cavity dug to extract chalk.

These marl pits are particularly in Upper Normandy.

While waiting for his intervention and for the hole to be filled, a safety order has been issued by the municipality.

Rue du Fort Bois was closed to traffic.
