  The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, where Half Moon Bay is located, said the agency first received reports of a shooting at around 14:30 that day.

When the police arrived at the scene of the crime, they found 5 people were injured by gunshot wounds, 4 of them were killed and 1 was in critical condition.

Soon after, the police found three people dead from gunshot wounds at another crime scene.

  Half Moon Bay is located about 50 kilometers south of San Francisco, and the surrounding area is famous for its various farms.

San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said the two crime scenes were located on different farms and it was unclear how the two involved farms were related.

Police believe that both the suspect and the victim were workers on the farm involved, and some children may have witnessed the shooting.

  Police said the suspect in the case was Chunli Zhao, a 67-year-old man.

Video taken by witnesses showed three officers approaching a parked car with guns.

After the suspect got out of the car, the police pinned him to the ground and handcuffed him.

A weapon was found in the suspect's car, police said.

At present, the police believe that the suspect acted alone, but the motive for the crime has not yet been determined.
