On Tuesday, January 24, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced that the Kyiv regime is offering Minsk to conclude a non-aggression pact.

The head of state stated this at a meeting on the socio-political situation and the state of crime in the republic.

“On the one hand, they ask us not to fight with Ukraine in any case, so that our troops do not move there.

A non-aggression pact is proposed to be concluded.

And on the other hand, they prepare this explosive mixture and arm them.

Poland, Lithuania are generally crazy.

Why do they need it?

Unclear.

Therefore, we are forced to react harshly, ”BelTA quotes Lukashenka as saying.

At the same time, the Belarusian leader stated that the West continues to train militants and extremists in Ukraine.

He also added that Minsk has enough questions "along the perimeter" of the country - both in the airspace and on the ground.

“We need to unite now in order to survive, so that, God forbid, rockets do not fly here and bombs are not thrown at us,” the President of Belarus explained.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov answered a question about Lukashenka's words with a brief comment.

“I cannot comment yet.

I don't have the information," a Kremlin spokesman said.

Recall that in the fall, the authorities of Belarus reported on Ukraine's plans to attack the republic.

Thus, the Belarusian KGB stated that up to 300 militants had been trained by foreign special services in Ukraine in order to capture one of the regional centers of Belarus.

Alexander Lukashenko also noted that power structures are being formed in Western countries and Ukraine to overthrow the government in the republic, while NATO and a number of European countries are considering options for possible aggression against Belarus.

At the same time, in October, the Ukrainian ambassador in Minsk, Igor Kizim, was summoned to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, where he was handed a note informing him of Kyiv's plans to strike at Belarusian territory.

In November, the border committee of Belarus reported a provocation by the Ukrainian military using an armored personnel carrier at the border.

In December, a drone was intercepted coming from the Ukrainian side.

The drone had no identification marks and was equipped with a built-in video camera for reconnaissance.

At the end of December, in the Ivanovo region, a Ukrainian S-300 air defense missile was shot down by Belarusian air defense systems.

Meanwhile, the head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, asked the G7 countries to support the Ukrainian idea to deploy international observers on the border of Ukraine and Belarus.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry emphasized that this initiative would involve third countries in the Ukrainian conflict.

In addition, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko discussed the formation of a common defense space at the end of 2022.

Recall that in November 2021, the Supreme State Council of the Union State adopted 28 programs for the integration of Russia and Belarus, including in the defense sector.

From January 16 to February 1, joint tactical flight exercises are held with the aviation units of the armed forces of the two countries.

Minsk emphasized that the maneuvers of Russia and Belarus are not directed against third countries.

In turn, Vladimir Olenchenko, a senior researcher at the Center for European Studies at IMEMO RAS, noted a catch in the proposal of the Kyiv regime, given the cases of violation of the state border by Ukrainian aviation and the fall of a rocket.

“That is, all this happened on the part of Ukraine, and now Ukraine says that it is ready to sign a non-aggression pact, that is, it turns out that this pact will only work for Belarus, and Ukraine, therefore, remains with its own.

Then here we must also take into account the fact that Ukraine seeks, as she says, to be close to NATO, and the very posing of the question - she goes against this movement of hers, ”the expert explained in a conversation with RT.

Political scientist Ivan Mezyuho believes that even hypothetically, there can be no conclusion of a non-aggression pact, since Ukraine is not a subject of international relations.

“This is a controlled territory that does not have its own opinion on key foreign policy issues, and on domestic policy issues too.

Today, Ukraine is so torn apart by internal contradictions and an internal struggle for power that I do not exclude that, theoretically, on the border of Belarus and Ukraine - from Ukraine - there may be a military provocation.

And if the Ukrainians go for it, then I am convinced that the response of Belarus will be immediate and convincing, ”the RT interlocutor emphasized.
