The actor was shortlisted by the organizers of these satirical trophies for his roles as manager of Elvis Presley in the biopic devoted to "Elvis" and of Geppetto in the remake of Disney's "Pinocchio".

According to a statement from the organizers of the Razzies, in the film "Elvis", Tom Hanks would have delivered the "most widely derided performance of the year 2022".

Tom Hanks, in conjunction with his "latex-laden face (and ridiculous accent)," was also nominated for the Razzies' "worst screen couple" category, it is said.

While "Elvis" and star Austin Butler have been widely acclaimed, Tom Hanks, as the rock and roll star's manager, has drawn the ire of critics.

Disney's "Pinocchio" was one of five films in the running for the Razzie for "worst picture" alongside the controversial Marilyn Monroe biopic "Blonde".

The "Golden Raspberry Awards", the official name of the Razzies, were invented in a Los Angeles living room in 1981 by former film students and Hollywood professionals.

The Razzies are usually announced the day before the Academy Awards.

The lucky winners receive a trophy representing a raspberry the size of a golf ball placed on a reel of Super 8 film.
