He said this at a press conference following talks with South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor.

“We talked about preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, which will be held in July this year in St. Petersburg.

We proceed from the fact that its results will build on the work that has been done since the first summit in the fall of 2019 in Sochi and will help bring our ties to new frontiers,” he said.

According to the minister, the South African side expressed interest in seeing this event "culminate in significant agreements."

Earlier, Lavrov said that Russia and African countries are preparing to switch to settlements in national currencies.
