In view of the tensions in the “traffic light”, Union politicians have called on the FDP and the Greens to break the coalition.

Because of the differences with the SPD in Ukraine politics, the two smaller "traffic light" partners would "finally have to act consistently and look for a new beginning under different circumstances," said CDU/CSU parliamentary manager Thorsten Frei (CDU) of the Bild newspaper on Monday .

A Jamaican coalition led by the Union freely suggested: "In any case, we are ready to take responsibility."

Frei referred to the open dispute between the coalition parties over tank deliveries to Ukraine.

"The scenes that are currently taking place in the traffic light coalition are reminiscent of divorce proceedings," he said.

The CDU foreign politician Norbert Röttgen also called on the Greens and FDP to break up the traffic light alliance.

"FDP and Greens must ask themselves whether they are prepared to take responsibility for this failure against their own convictions," he also said in the Bild newspaper.

The policy of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and the SPD means "that Germany is failing at a crucial point in a historic test of the war in Europe".
