This is reported by TASS with reference to the British Foreign Office.

The reason for the restrictions was the involvement of the militia "in serious human rights violations in Iran", including "violation of the right to life, the right to freedom of assembly and the right of expression through the brutal suppression of protests."

It is noted that the Basij Foundation is listed for "providing financial services or providing its funds or economic resources that contributed to serious human rights violations in Iran."

Along with this, members of the command of the IRGC, as well as one of the deputy prosecutor general of Iran, Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, and one of the generals of the Iranian army, were included in the list.

Earlier it was reported that the EU countries agreed on a new package of sanctions against Iran.
