Ouest-France

.

Since its discovery, the bomb had been secured in place, under earth.

Sunday morning, the deminers first extracted the primer rockets and detonators, according to a tweet from the prefect of Calvados.

A security perimeter has been established to guarantee the safety of local residents.

The debombing operation begins, it is for the deminers to extract the primer fuses and the detonators.

These will be destroyed on site.

A common and usual operation but always very delicate in view of the age of the ammunition.

Good luck to them !

Quickly neutralized

Rather than defusing the bomb on the spot, which would have involved the evacuation of around a thousand people, the operation continued at the Parc des expositions.

The ammunition was transported there, under police and fire escort.

⚠️ End of the debombing operation in #Caen, the ammunition has been evacuated and the security perimeter has been lifted.

Thank you to the deminers of the interdepartmental center of #Caen and to all the services mobilized.
