According to the doctor, the optimal temperature for hot meals, including drinks, is about

70 °C.

He emphasized that this is a comfortable temperature so that the drink does not quickly cool down, but at the same time it is safe for the esophagus.

The expert warned that hotter drinks and liquid foods, such as soup, whose temperature approaches 90-100 ° C, can cause burns.

“These burns are not always obvious: something bothers in the chest and it’s gone, and sometimes you don’t even feel it, but if this is repeated regularly, then such people have an increased risk of esophageal cancer,” the source said.

The gastroenterologist also recalled that there are countries where it is customary to drink very hot drinks, for example, in Mongolia.

And this, as the specialist noted, is one of the countries with the highest incidence of esophageal cancer.

Earlier, Candidate of Medical Sciences, gastroenterologist, nutritionist Irina Berezhnaya told how packaged juices affect health.
