Regarding the shooting that occurred in downtown Monterey Park near Los Angeles (LA) on the 21st (local time), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "The Consulate General of the State of Los Angeles is figuring out whether or not our citizens have suffered damage."



A foreign ministry official said LAPD officials had announced that at least 10 people were killed and 10 injured after a gunman opened fire at a Lunar New Year celebration in Monterey Park.



Monterey Park, a city in southwestern California, USA, is about 10 miles from Los Angeles, and 65% of its residents are Asian Americans.



According to local media such as the Associated Press and the LA Times, the suspect has not yet been caught, and the injured are currently being moved to several nearby medical facilities for treatment.



Local police did not disclose the specific identities of the victims.
