Three 17-year-old men were in the car and two are said to have got out themselves and the third is said to have been helped out by the rescue service, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

- Around 7:10 p.m., the police initiate an attempt to stop a vehicle in the center of Älvängen.

The driver refuses to stop and drives away along county road 1975, says Fredrik Flyberg, officer on duty at the police command center.

The pursuit continues for about five minutes before the car drives off the road and into a tree.

The three men were taken to hospital, two by ambulance and the third by helicopter.

According to Fredrik Flyberg, the injuries for all three are said to be serious but stable.

A preliminary investigation has been launched into gross drunken driving, gross negligence in traffic, causing bodily harm, gross illegal driving and for not having stopped at a policeman's sign.

The police's actions in connection with the accident will be investigated according to routine, says Fredrik Flyberg.
