- I feel so sorry for my neighbors who have suffered more than what we have done, says Catarina Blomqvist who during Saturday looked at the cottage by Lake Gisshultasjön.

Her lot is partially flooded, but not nearly as much as several of the neighboring properties.

Some have managed to build protective walls around their houses, while other properties now stand like islands surrounded by water;

or rather ice since the freezing temperatures have made their approach.

Emån continues to rise

Overall, the levels in the waterways and the flooded areas in Jönköping county have dropped somewhat in the last 24 hours, especially in the western parts of the county.

But in the Highlands it is still problematic at, for example, Lake Gisshultasjön and the Emå system's level is still rising.

- The level in Lake Gisshultasjön has started to drop, but it's going a little slower there, says Fredrik Björnberg, who is the on-duty rescue manager in Jönköping County.

He says that there can be so-called blast damage to the properties that are flooded when the water freezes to ice.

The same goes for flooded roads.

In the clip above, you can see what it looks like for the property owners at Lake Gisshultasjön after the flooded lots have frozen over.
