"Household finances must be saved in good time before Christmas.

It is a joint election promise.”

wrote Ulf Kristersson (M) on Facebook a week before the election and said that he, Jimmie Åkesson (SD), Ebbas Busch (KD) and Johan Pehrson (L) had agreed.

The promise also applied to the introduction of high-cost protection on electricity prices that would apply from November 1, something that was signed by all party leaders in a debate article in DN.

At the end of November, the new government presented a new model and the promised high-cost protection was replaced with an electricity price subsidy.

The support that was presented was based on 2021 consumption and applied to electricity areas 3 and 4 in southern Sweden.

The aid is expected to be paid out in February 2023.

New support

Ebbas Busch has previously admitted that the government did not keep the promise of high-cost protection on electricity prices.

When asked if Ulf Kristersson (M) had a mandate to issue a joint election promise that households' finances would be saved before Christmas, she is floating.

- About a high-cost protection until November 1, absolutely.

Then we have explained well and truly why we changed the model but also why our focus is on building up the electrical system, says Ebba Busch (KD) to Ekot.

At the beginning of 2023, the government presented a new electricity subsidy for the period November-December 2022, this time also including northern Sweden.

The new support is expected to be paid out in the spring, an exact date is not yet available.
