Burkina Faso demands the departure of French troops deployed in the country

The Burkinabè government has demanded the departure of French troops deployed on its territory, Burkinabè radio and television reported on Saturday, citing the Burkina Information Agency (AIB).

Radiodiffusion Télévision du Burkina (RTB) reported that the Burkinabè government on January 18 suspended a 2018 military agreement that allowed the presence of French soldiers in Burkina Faso.

France has one month to withdraw its troops from the country, RTB said, citing AIB, Burkina's news agency.

This decision comes as demonstrations targeting France

have multiplied

in recent months in Burkina Faso.
