The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in connection with the statements of EU diplomat Josep Borrell.

“The statement by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, regarding the comparison of the policy of the United States and its allies towards Moscow with the actions of Adolf Hitler, cited by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference on January 18, sounds hypocritical, especially against the backdrop of racist statements the head of EU diplomacy, which divided the world into a “flowering garden” inhabited by “a billion citizens of the EU and the United States”, and the “jungle” advancing on it, as well as open EU support for the Kyiv neo-Nazi regime, ”the statement says.

The department recalled that since 2014 the Armed Forces of Ukraine and nationalist battalions have been shelling with impunity the peaceful cities of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Russia, killing civilians.

At the same time, the EU is training Ukrainian fighters, preparing to supply the Kyiv regime with even more weapons and military equipment.

“EU members declare that there are no parallels, but they themselves close their eyes to the swastikas on the chevrons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Nazi flags and the very symbols with which Europeans barbarously invaded our lands more than 80 years ago,” Russian diplomats said.

On January 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the positions of the United States and the West are "the main problem that creates difficulties in all azimuths."

He emphasized that Washington's policy in international relations is permissiveness, while everyone else "cannot do anything without American consent, even in response to direct security threats that the United States itself creates on the borders of countries."

“Just as Napoleon mobilized virtually all of Europe against the Russian Empire, as Adolf Hitler captured, put under arms most of the European countries and threw them against the Soviet Union, the United States formed a coalition of virtually all Europeans in NATO and the EU, and through Ukraine” by proxy" are waging war against our country with the same task - the final solution of the "Russian question".

Hitler wanted to finally solve the "Jewish question," he said.

Lavrov also recalled that after the end of the Cold War, the United States invaded foreign territories about 300 times.

The White House called Lavrov's words offensive.

In turn, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, considered the statements of the Russian minister "inappropriate".

“There can be no parallel between the crimes of Nazi Germany and international assistance to Ukraine to protect its territory and people,” he wrote on Twitter.

At the same time, later Borrell himself mentioned Russia's victories over Napoleon and Hitler, in connection with which he called for arming Ukraine.

“Russia is a big country, she is used to fighting to the end, she is used to almost losing, and then restoring everything.

She did it to Napoleon, she did it to Hitler.

It would be absurd to think that Russia lost the war or that its military is incompetent... Therefore, right now it is necessary to continue arming Ukraine,” said the head of European diplomacy.
