Two men in their twenties were tried on Wednesday before the criminal court in Avignon (Vaucluse).

They were suspected of various offenses committed during a TER journey between Marseille and Avignon, reports La Provence.

The facts occurred on Monday evening.

Installed in a train car, the two suspects first stole a dozen window-breaking hammers before degrading seats, engraving words on the walls while inconveniencing other passengers.

Prison sentences

Arrived in Avignon, the two young people provoked a dog handler and a station manager, uttering insults and death threats against them.

They were arrested for theft, destruction and deterioration of property intended for public utility, contempt and death threat against anyone in charge of a public service mission.

"It's okay, we didn't hold up, rape someone, or tear off an old woman's necklace either," one of the young people told the audience in defense.

Result: the two defendants were sentenced to twelve months in prison for one and six months for the other.
