At a press conference, US Defense Minister LLoyd Austin presented a package of 2.5 billion dollars, corresponding to close to 26 billion kroner.

The package includes, among other things, 59 combat vehicles of the Bradley model, 53 so-called MRAPs (mine-resistant vehicles) and 350 armored vehicles of the Hummer model.

Austin also announced that several countries, such as France, Germany, England, the Netherlands and Canada, have contributed air defense donations.

He also mentioned Sweden's decision to donate combat vehicles, and later the Archer artillery system.

Ukraine's desire for tanks

Ukraine has expressed a strong desire to get more tanks, which has also been in focus during the meeting.

- We are ready to meet Ukraine's request to receive tanks and other armored combat vehicles, said Lloyd Austin during his speech.

He praised Britain for the decision to send Challenger 2 tanks but said Germany had not yet decided on approval to send the much-talked-about Leopard tanks.

Biggest support package - despite the disappointment

Oscar Jonsson, PhD in Russian warfare at the Norwegian Defense Academy, says that combat vehicles are the most important thing Ukraine can get right now.

- This support package is the largest that has been presented since the war started.

At the same time, the message from Germany that Ukraine and several other countries were waiting for, specifically an approval to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine, did not come.

Several countries in Europe have such tanks, but cannot currently donate them to Ukraine.

Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau tweeted on Friday that Ukrainian blood is "the price of hesitation over Leopard deliveries"

Oscar Jonsson says that several countries have been disappointed that Germany has not been ready to approve movements of the Leopard tanks.

- But the issue is not completely settled and it may be approved within a few days.
