Taiwan authorities have decided to accept marriage registrations from all same-sex couples, except those who are residents of mainland China.

There are a number of cases in which couples of foreign nationality, including Japanese nationality, and Taiwanese nationals, who are dissatisfied with this lawsuit, have filed lawsuits with Taiwanese courts and won rulings ordering their marriages to be approved.



In response to this situation, Taiwan's Ministry of Internal Affairs said, "Same-sex marriage has already become part of Taiwan's public order. It is necessary to avoid disagreements on a case-by-case basis." By the 20th, we notified the relevant organizations to accept the marriage registration of the registered same-sex couple.



However, if one of the couples is a resident of mainland China, excluding Hong Kong and Macau, it will remain exempt.
