On January 19, nearly 1.2 million French people took to the streets to demonstrate against the pension reform.

After this first demonstration, the unions have promised a new day of mobilization on Tuesday, January 31st.

The railway workers, meanwhile, want to step up because that is not enough.

Grow in power

During this meeting, the railway workers mainly decided that it was necessary to increase in power.

"One day of mobilization every eight or ten days will not be enough to bend the government," said one of the participants at the microphone of Europe 1. First certainty, they will call for a strike on January 31 next , in line with the announcement of January 19 in the evening by the trade union organizations at the national level.

Then, they will consult their members to try to agree on methods of action that will go beyond a 24-hour social movement.

“We must not launch the renewable strike too early to ramp up at the right time, also observing what is happening in other branches such as energy or oil”, underlined another participant.

The precise announcements of the railway workers will therefore be made next Tuesday or Wednesday, but we can already expect several complicated days on the rails in the coming weeks.
