There has been a storm around Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson's (M) state secretary PM Nilsson in the past week.

This after it emerged that he poached eels in Karlskrona in September 2021, and lied to both the Maritime and Water Authority and the police about this.

During the past Christmas weekend, however, Nilsson contacted the police and admitted his crime and was subsequently sentenced to daily fines totaling SEK 38,800.

The incident has led to several heavy social democrats demanding Nilsson's resignation, including S leader Magdalena Andersson and Ardalan Shekarabi.

Now the Left Party's party leader is also doing the same:

"You have to be able to trust the kingdom's highest official.

The Prime Minister cannot keep a Secretary of State who lies to the police and clearly does not believe that the law applies equally to everyone," writes Nooshi Dadgostar (V) on Twitter.

Johan Pehrson (L): "Sees no problems"

But Labor Market and Integration Minister Johan Pehrson (L) has continued confidence in Nilsson and highlights the fact that he admitted the crime and took his sentence.

- My assessment is that if the prime minister has confidence in his state secretary, I see no problem with that, he says.
