A 64-year-old man and his 36-year-old son, both truck drivers, recently appeared in court in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) after drugs were found in their truck.

On January 12, customs officers had discovered 26 kg of cannabis in the closet of the berth of the truck occupied by the two men of Romanian nationality, reports

The agents had carried out the check at the Boulou toll.

The two drivers were sentenced to one year in prison, accompanied by a ban on French territory for three years.

They will also have to pay a customs fine of 45,500 euros.

They had not sought to deny the facts with which they were accused.

The son's lawyer had highlighted the blind obedience that this one devotes to his father.

The latter had meanwhile explained that a Moroccan had offered him 4,500 euros on a motorway service area to transport the drugs to Paris.

The man would have promised the presence of a car to accompany the truck throughout the journey.
