In connection with the far-right politician Rasmus Paludan holding a demonstration in Landskrona in April last year, a violent riot broke out that included vandalism and violence against the police.

About a hundred people participated in the riots and several were young people.

A man in his 20s was charged in December with violent disorder and blue-light sabotage for being involved in setting fire to garbage cans and throwing rocks and firecrackers at police.

Now the man is acquitted of the suspicions.

Lack of evidence

Lund District Court believes that the evidence presented by the prosecutor is not strong enough.

Among other things, it concerns a film that the prosecutor believes shows the man because similar clothes were found at his home.

However, the district court believes that it is not possible to ensure that it is his clothes because they are not unique garments.

A film from the riots was also found in the man's mobile phone, which the prosecutor presented as evidence.

But since no investigation into the origin of the film has been presented, the district court believes that it is not possible to prove that he is the one who took the film.

Convicted of weapons offences

On the other hand, the man is sentenced to two years and two months in prison for serious weapons crime for having carried a gun in a public place in Landskrona on another occasion.

Another man in his 20s is sentenced to an equally long prison term for serious weapons offenses in the same case.

Both men have denied the criminal charges.
