In Guinea, the ex-putschist, Head of State from December 2008 to December 2009, Moussa Dadis Camara appeared yesterday, Monday January 16, again, before the criminal court responsible for trying the main suspects of the massacres of September 28 2009 in a stadium in Conakry.

On that day and the following, at least 157 opponents were massacred by the defense and security forces under the junta and at least 109 women raped.

Yesterday, the verbal battles between Me Paul Yomba Kourouma, lawyer for Toumba Diakité, Captain Dadis Camara's former aide-de-camp, and the captain himself were calmer than expected.

From the start of the hearings, the dean of the lawyers in this trial asked Captain Dadis Camara if he admitted his guilt in this massacre of opponents.

Clear answer from Dadis Camara: “

I do not see myself guilty before this august tribunal.

I tell myself that I am not guilty, and I have no criminal responsibility.

“

Since then, the massacre

 ”

The fiery captain calmed down yesterday, certainly advised by his relatives, he kept a low profile unlike the previous days.

Me Paul Yomba Kourouma affirms that he was indeed around the stadium in a restaurant throughout the massacre: “

Dadis was present at Marocana, and when he arrived he did something abominable.

Toumba called him, to tell him that they were overwhelmed and that they didn't have the situation under control.

He asked for reinforcements.

Since then, the massacre.

“

I have the impression that he is not at all ready to give his version

 ”

Asmaou Diallo, the president of the victims' association regrets that Dadis Camara denies the obvious: "

Dadis Camara's behavior revolts me because I have the impression that he is not at all ready to give its version correctly.

It makes our victims uncomfortable, he has always said that he is ready to come and give the version before the Guinean justice.

»

Dadis Camara, more tired than the previous days, appeared this morning for the eleventh time.

A record audience since the opening of this trial in October 2022.
