On the afternoon of January 19, the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council held a press conference on the prevention and control of the epidemic during the Spring Festival.

A reporter asked at the meeting that the country has implemented the "Class B and B Control" measures for the new coronavirus infection for 11 days. What is the current situation of the medical treatment of the new coronavirus infection and the daily diagnosis and treatment of medical institutions across the country?

Guo Yanhong said that the medical treatment of patients infected with the new coronavirus is stable and orderly, and daily diagnosis and treatment services are gradually recovering.

First of all, the provinces have passed three peaks, that is, the peak of fever outpatient visits, the peak of emergency department visits and the peak of severe patients.

The number of visits to fever clinics across the country reached its peak on December 23, 2022, and then continued to decline. By January 17, it had dropped by 94% from the peak, and had fallen back to the level before December 7.

The number of emergency room visits across the country peaked on January 2, 2023, and then continued to decline, falling by 44% from the peak on January 17.

The number of positive critically ill patients in hospitals across the country peaked on January 5, and then continued to decline. On January 17, the number of positive severe patients dropped by 44.3% from the peak.

Guo Yanhong further stated that in terms of normal medical treatment, there are also signs of normal recovery.

First, general outpatient clinics across the country are gradually recovering.

At the same time, the proportion of patients with new crowns in general outpatient clinics is gradually decreasing. By January 17, the rate of non-new crown patients in general outpatient clinics reached 99.5%, indicating that normal outpatient clinics are gradually recovering.

Second, hospitalized patients are showing a fluctuating upward trend. The proportion of non-COVID-19 patients among hospitalized patients has increased significantly, reaching 85% on January 17, suggesting that our normal hospitalization is also recovering.

In particular, it should be pointed out that the number of inpatient operations showed a downward trend from December 9th to 31st, and showed a steady increase after January 1st.

The number of hospitalized operations on January 17 has increased by more than 20% compared to December 7.

These indicators all reflect that normal medical services in medical institutions are being restored.
