About 15 people became victims of a plane crash in the suburbs of Kyiv - the village of Brovary.

As a result of a helicopter crash in a residential area, according to official data from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 14 people died, including one child, and another 25 were injured (including 11 minors).

During the crash, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky and his first deputy Yevgeny Enin, several other employees of the department, the crew of the aircraft and local residents were killed.

The head of the Ukrainian police, Igor Klymenko, was appointed acting head of the department.

Later, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs partially published the list of the dead.

It follows from the publication that State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yury Lubkovich and Deputy Head of the Patronage Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tatyana Shutyak also became victims of the state of emergency.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he instructed the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police to find out all the circumstances of the helicopter crash with the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on board.

Zelensky also clarified that the aircraft crashed on the territory of one of the kindergartens.

The office of the President of Ukraine noted that the deceased head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was flying to one of the hot spots.

At the same time, information is circulating in Telegram channels that Monastyrsky could go on vacation.

According to the authors of such publications, rooms in one of the bath complexes were booked for the minister's assistant.

The SBU said it was considering several versions of the tragedy, including a violation of flight rules, a technical malfunction and deliberate actions to destroy the helicopter.

Different versions of what happened appeared in the media and social networks.

At the same time, the Strana.ua publication published an article stating that the helicopter that crashed in Brovary belonged to the Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma model and was purchased from France in 2018.

As noted in the publication, the EC225 has a number of technical problems that have previously been widely publicized.

In 2009, an EC225 crashed off the coast of Scotland, killing 14 people.

After the emergency in 2012, restrictions were imposed on the flights of these machines for some time.

In April 2016, a helicopter of this model crashed off the coast of Norway in the North Sea.

It was reported that he was heading to Bergen from an oil platform located 120 km from the coast.

As a result of the incident, all 11 workers and two crew members were killed.

In the summer of the same year, the European Aviation Safety Agency banned the flights of EC225 helicopters due to a defect.

Subsequently, the Norwegian State Commission for the Investigation of Transport Incidents stated that the cause of the crash was most likely a gear in the engine rotor cracked due to metal fatigue.

The restrictions introduced at that time were later lifted, but some countries that operated the EC225 decided not to resume flights of these machines.

However, this decision was eventually revised after the manufacturer finalized the helicopters and adjusted the methods of their maintenance.
