China News Service, January 19 (Xinhua) According to a Reuters report on the 18th, the famous Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt may have suffered fraud and lost more than 12.7 million US dollars.

His account balance with Jamaica Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) was only about $12,000.

Bolt's attorney, Lynton Gordon, said that if the money is not returned within 10 days, a lawsuit will be filed.

According to reports, Gordon said on the evening of the 17th that Bolt learned last week that his account balance in SSL had inexplicably decreased to only $12,000.

Gordon said the account was a pension account Bolt set up for himself and his parents.

If SSL doesn't return the funds, "we're going to go to court."

"This is very disappointing and we hope this is resolved and Mr Bolt gets his money back and lives in peace," Gordon said.

In a previous statement, SSL said it was aware of fraud by a former employee and had reported the matter to law enforcement.

SSL also emphasized that relevant measures have been taken to protect the security of assets.

SSL has yet to respond further to Gordon's remarks.

Jamaica's Finance Minister Nigel Clark said on the 17th that SSL was suspected of committing "shocking fraud" and that the authorities would bring "all perpetrators to justice."

It is reported that Bolt, as a legend in the men's sprint world, has won 8 Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championship gold medals in his career, and has maintained the men's 100-meter and men's 200-meter world records so far.

In 2017, at the age of 31, Bolt chose to retire.
