The reason for the January 14 tragedy in Dnepropetrovsk was Kyiv's failure to comply with humanitarian law, said Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council on January 17, the diplomat said that a Russian missile launched at an energy infrastructure facility was hit by Ukrainian air defense forces.

“And since the air defense installation was placed in a residential area in violation of the norms of international humanitarian law, which you are so proud of, the downed missile fell on a residential building.

You know the rest,” Nebenzya said.

According to him, if the Ukrainian authorities had listened to the requirements of international humanitarian law, the tragedy in Dnepropetrovsk would not have happened.

“Just as there would be no need on our part to carry out strikes against an infrastructure facility that supports the military potential of Ukraine, if the Ukrainian leadership had shown readiness for peace negotiations on realistic terms that would eliminate the reasons that made the need for a military defense,” concluded Nebenzya.

Along with this, the diplomat expressed regret that none of the participants in the UN Security Council "found a single word of condemnation" of the ongoing strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donetsk, as a result of which people are also dying.

Special Forces "Akhmat" occupied the stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that the fighters of the Akhmat special forces regiment occupied a stronghold under the settlement of Marinka.

“There is great news from the NVO zone, namely from the Maryinsky direction!

Soldiers of the Sever-Akhmat Special Forces Regiment named after the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov of the Russian Defense Ministry stormed a stronghold, including fortified positions, ”Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

As the head of Chechnya noted, most of the enemy's manpower was destroyed, an impressive number of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were taken prisoner.

He also said that the stronghold consisted of a line of trenches, camouflaged dugouts, rifle defensive structures and was located in a favorable area for the enemy.

According to Kadyrov, the captured stronghold is of strategic importance and its capture is a significant success on the Maryinsky front.

Artillery aiming thanks to the negotiations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Yan Gagin, said that the Russian military was able to deliver accurate artillery strikes on Polish mercenaries in Soledar due to the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Part of the serious losses we inflicted on the Polish contingent occurred thanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who, without any hesitation, discussed on the air the areas of work of foreign colleagues,” RIA Novosti quotes Gagin.

According to the adviser to the acting head of the DPR, Poles are not liked in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and they are trying to put them on dangerous sectors of the front instead of themselves.

Zakharova - on the supply of weapons to Kyiv

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the words of the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the scale of arms supplies to Ukraine.

“The head of the European Commission, von der Leyen, called for giving Ukraine any weapon that it can use.

Nuclear, right?

— Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel.

It should be noted that earlier, other Western politicians also called for expanding the supply of weapons to Kyiv.

In particular, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed plans to supply Kyiv with light tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, and British Defense Minister Ben Wallace called on the German authorities to approve the supply of Leopard tanks.
