The new support package, which will be the tenth, will be presented at a press conference called by the government for 10.15am.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) says that the support package will be large, but does not want to go into any details.

The agenda for the cabinet meeting on Thursday states that a decision must be made on the transfer of artillery systems to Ukraine, as Expressen was the first to report.

Archer is high on the Ukrainian wish list.

That Sweden will send more military support to Ukraine is expected.

Ulf Kristersson stated at the National People and Defense Conference in Sälen recently that he had spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj.

Great precision

Archer is an artillery system that can be moved quickly on wheels, fired quickly and has great accuracy.

Sweden has 48 Archer plays.

The last one was delivered as late as November.

The government's press conference is held the day before all the countries that support the Ukrainian defense with weapons meet at the American airbase Ramstein in Germany.

Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) will participate in the meeting on behalf of Sweden.

In Ramstein, the big question is whether one is prepared to supply Ukraine with more and heavier equipment for counter-offensives.

Above all, what is being discussed are tanks of the German model Leopard 2. Sweden has 120 of that model, which here is called stridsvagn 122.

The Leopard 2 is available in larger arrays with the 13 European armies that use them.

Finland and Poland have already shown their willingness to contribute.

However, the fact that the tanks are German means that Germany has the last word.

Five billion

The total military support from Sweden to Ukraine so far has been estimated by the government to have a value of five billion kroner, of which the latest, ninth package was valued at three billion kroner.

That package included an air defense system with qualified ammunition, qualified ammunition for another air defense system, all-terrain vehicles, body armor for soldiers and winter equipment, such as snowsuits, heating stoves, tents and masking.

In previous packages, Sweden has, among other things, sent 15,000 anti-tank rounds, other anti-tank weapons and naval target robot 17 delivered to Ukraine.
