Prime Minister Kishida held talks with Liberal Democratic Party chairman Hagiuda of the Liberal Democratic Party's Policy Research Council regarding the financial resources for the increase in defense spending, and instructed the party's special mission committee to hold sufficient discussions to secure financial resources other than tax increases.

The government and ruling parties plan to cover one-fourth of the increase in defense spending in line with the drastic strengthening of defense capabilities by raising corporate and other taxes, while securing three-fourths through expenditure reforms.

Prior to the first meeting of the Liberal Democratic Party's special mission committee, which discusses financial resources other than the tax increase, on the 19th, Prime Minister Kishida met with Hagiuda, Chairman of the Policy Research Council.

Then, he said to Mr. Hagiuda, "I want you to do it properly," and instructed the special mission committee to fully discuss how to secure financial resources.

The special mission committee is expected to discuss revising the redemption period of government bonds with the aim of increasing financial resources.

At the meeting, the two sides shared the view that, first of all, it is necessary to consider a concrete plan in order to enrich the content of the "countermeasures against the declining birthrate of a different dimension."
