- At that time, the municipality would invest many millions in something that no one was interested in.
Back then, the priority was welfare, school and preschool – not district heating, says the newly appointed chairman of the municipal board, Annsofie Thuresson (M).
Among other things, the municipal housing company KKB took a negative view of district heating a few years ago because it had recently invested in, among other things, gas heating.
Expensive with gas
With the war in Ukraine, gas prices have soared and this has hit both residents and business owners in the eastern parts of Kävlinge, where a large part of the properties are heated just standing, hard.
Among others, Birgit Persson whose condominium association has been forced to raise its monthly fee by 60 percent.
- In 2017, we did not predict this development, no one did, and then there were alternatives that had significantly lower costs than district heating.
It was the best thing after the situation that was then.
Ready for summer
In 2022 and 2023, the interest is all the greater and on Tostarpsvägen the expansion of district heating is now in full swing.
The plan is for a biocoal boiler to be in full operation by the end of the summer.
- The idea is that properties should be connected continuously during the year.
