According to reports, the head of the Ukrainian National Police Klimenko announced the news on social media Facebook.
He said Interior Minister Monasterski, First Deputy Minister Yening and another senior official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who were on the helicopter died in the accident.
"This morning, January 18, a rotorcraft of the State Emergency Service crashed in Brovari. As a result of the crash, the leadership of the Ministry of the Interior was killed: Minister, First Deputy Minister and Secretary of State (Ministry of Interior), ’ wrote Klimenko.
According to Klimenko, there are currently 16 known victims, nine of whom were passengers on the plane, and two children were among the dead.
According to the head of the Ukrainian police, 22 injured people are currently receiving treatment in hospital, including 10 children.
Police and the National Guard are currently working at the crash site and inspections are ongoing.
