On Tuesday, January 17, the Ukrainian media reported that Aleksey Arestovich had been relieved of his post as a freelance adviser to the country's president's office.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda, the fact of the resignation was confirmed by the president's press secretary Serhiy Nikiforov.

As clarifies the publication, the corresponding order was signed by Maria Vitushok, head of the apparatus of the office of the President of Ukraine.

This was preceded by the publication of Arestovich himself about his resignation letter.

He released a photo of the handwritten document, supplementing it with a note that in this way he intends to "set an example of civilized behavior: a fundamental mistake, then resign."

Prior to this, Arestovich published another entry in which he stated that he retracted his words that the work of the Ukrainian air defense system became the reason for the collapse of a part of the house in the Dnieper.

“I made a serious mistake on live TV.

It doesn’t matter for what reason the audience heard it, but from now on I will be stricter about the information that I voice, ”he wrote.

It should be noted that Arestovich, who previously held various government positions in Ukraine, became widely known after the start of a special military operation.

Since February 2022, he has repeatedly spoken on behalf of official Kyiv with comments on the fact of many events.

Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president's office, said in August 2022 that Arestovich "talks so much" that his position implies the status of "adviser to the entire office" of Volodymyr Zelensky.

Also on russian.rt.com The Rada began collecting signatures for the resignation of Arestovich because of his words about air defense in the Dnieper

The reason for the current resonant scandal was Arestovich's comments on the events that took place in the Dnieper on January 14.

On that day, an air alert was announced in Ukraine and the air defense system was working.

As a result of the explosion, the entrance of one of the residential buildings collapsed.

According to the Ukrainian side, more than 40 people became victims of the emergency.

Arestovich soon announced that a rocket had exploded near a residential building in Dnipro, shot down by a Ukrainian air defense system.

After his words, a wave of criticism against Arestovich arose in the media and social networks.

He himself later clarified that he had cited the information of his comrade, who had previously served in the air defense and witnessed the incident, and due to fatigue, he incorrectly submitted this data.

However, a number of Ukrainian politicians have called for action against Arestovich.

In particular, Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Goncharenko announced the start of collecting signatures for the dismissal of an adviser to the presidential office, since Arestovich's actions relate to high treason.

And the mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, called on the special services to initiate an audit and called the adviser to the office of the president of the country "narcissistic cattle."

The situation was also commented on in Russia.

In particular, on January 16, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, in the course of answering a question from journalists, emphasized: “The Russian armed forces do not strike at residential buildings or at social infrastructure facilities.

Attacks are made on military targets: obvious or camouflaged.

Along with this, Peskov recalled that even in Kyiv it was reported that the tragedy in the Dnieper was the result of the action of anti-missiles of the air defense system.

In turn, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that representatives of Ukraine would not succeed in declaring Arestovich "an agent of the Kremlin."

“After the “shooting down”, and then “not shooting down” by the Ukrainian military, rockets over a residential building in Dnepropetrovsk, and then the Dnieper, Arestovich in Ukraine are being declared an infiltrated agent of the Kremlin.

No, it won't.

He is the face of the Kyiv regime.

Zelensky is the nose, and Arestovich is the face, ”she wrote in her Telegram channel.
