Mr. Ruru Imai ran for the House of Representatives election two years ago as a rookie of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan from the Gifu 5th district and was defeated. He announced his intention to run as an independent candidate for the Tajimi City electoral constituency on the recommendation of the Liberal Democratic Party.



In response to this, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan recognized at the standing board meeting on the 17th that ``it is a serious anti-party act that damages the honor and trust of the party and disturbs unity,'' and did not accept the withdrawal notification submitted by Mr. Imai. Regarding the petition submitted by the Gifu Prefectural Federation to the party headquarters to have Mr. Imai return the total amount of 6.5 million yen paid by the party as activity expenses for the next House of Representatives election, he said, ``I hope Mr. Imai will make a sensible decision. In addition, two candidates are scheduled to run in the Tajimi City constituency: Atsushi Tomoe, a newcomer to the Liberal Democratic Party and former reporter for Kyodo News, and Yasunobu Hanji, an independent newcomer and an employee of a printing company.
