It was at the end of September last year that a woman in her 20s and a man in her 45s were shot through the window while they were watching TV.

The man was hit in the ear, shoulder and thigh.

All three shots were, according to the prosecutor, potentially fatal.

The woman was hit in the back, millimeters from the spine.

- They have had a guardian angel and are doing well under the circumstances, says District Attorney Thomas Bälter, who led the investigation.

The relative who was arrested a few days after the shooting is now charged at Uppsala District Court on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offences.

The police have not found any firearm.

However, there is other technical evidence, such as that the suspect had detonator particles on his clothes - which should correspond to particles on empty shell casings at the crime scene.

DNA from the man should also be found on empty casings.

Denies crime

- I assess the state of the evidence as very good and that it is not possible to explain the technical findings in any other way than that he is the shooter, says Thomas Bälter.

The trial is scheduled to begin next week and conclude the following week.

- My client denies the crimes he has been charged with, I do not comment on the basis for the denial before the trial, says Carl-Albin Rudolfsson, the suspect's defense lawyer.

The suspect has undergone a minor psychiatric examination, and the prosecutor has subsequently requested that the mental health be investigated further, which the district court has to decide on.
