Iraq.. a statement prosecuting the owners of "downward content"

The Iraqi Ministry of the Interior decided to form a committee to "follow up the degrading content" on social media and "bring its creators to justice". Or concerned with evaluating content on communication platforms.

Yesterday, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, in a statement, the formation of a committee to follow up the content on communication sites, to deal with the "downward" ones, and to bring their makers to justice.

And the Ministry of Interior's account on the social networking site "Twitter" published a video showing Iraqi content makers, including famous people, with the comment, "Where is the downward content?"

The statement, published by the official Iraqi News Agency, added that "the judiciary supported the proposals of the security services regarding the content file in the social media," and that "the committee began its work and achieved work in reaching and arresting the creators of the downward content."

The Ministry of the Interior has launched an electronic platform for reporting "low content", through which the whistleblower can include links and descriptions of the reported content.

The definition attached to the website says that it is "an online platform for reporting media content published on social media that offends public decency and carries negative messages that offend modesty and destabilizes society."
