Six people, including a 6-month-old baby and his mother, were killed when a gunman opened fire on a home in California on Monday.

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreau said the crime was targeted and may be related to drug cartels.

The police found the dead inside and outside the house, and believe that two people attacked the house and fired several shots. "The situation is tragic. We have a 17-year-old mother and her 6-month-old baby who were shot in the head," Boudreau said.

Two people survived the attack after they hid in the building, while paramedics treated a number of the wounded at the scene.

It appears that the attack is linked to a drug gang, according to the security official, adding, "We believe that the attack was not random, we believe that the family was targeted."
