In the ordinary session of the Diet to be convened next week, the opposition parties are poised to work together to pursue the government's policy of increasing taxes in line with the increase in defense spending, while the government and ruling parties need to secure stable financial resources to strengthen defense capabilities. It is expected that a fierce debate will be exchanged from the beginning, with the intention of carefully explaining the above and gaining the understanding of the public.

The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, the Japan Restoration Party, the Communist Party, the Democratic Party for the People, the Reiwa Shinsengumi, and other opposition party committee chairs met on the 17th, and the government's tax increase policy accompanying the increase in defense spending was decided without going through deliberations in the Diet. We agreed to call for sufficient discussion and to oppose an easy tax increase.

The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan's Diet countermeasures committee chairman Azumi said, "We will form a confrontational line as a common understanding of the opposition parties," and the opposition parties are ready to cooperate in the regular Diet session.

In response, the government and ruling parties will carefully explain the need to secure stable financial resources to strengthen defense capabilities, and hope to gain the public's understanding. We will discuss policies head-on with the opposition parties and put them into practice."

However, there are voices within the Liberal Democratic Party that oppose the policy of increasing taxes and that more measures should be considered to secure financial resources other than taxes.

The ordinary session of the Diet will be convened on the 23rd of next week, after Prime Minister Kishida will deliver a policy speech, followed by questions from representatives of each party for three days from the 25th. It is expected to be exchanged.
