According to TASS, he stressed that in the West "the conditions for entry for Russian tourists are being tightened up to the complete cessation of issuing Schengen visas to them."

“As you know, at the moment, Russian citizens are prohibited from entering Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, the Czech Republic and Estonia for tourist purposes,” the agency quotes him.

According to him, a number of EU countries, without formally refusing to issue visas to Russian citizens, put forward conditions that are obviously impossible to fulfill.

For example, they require payment of visa fees through Western banks or the presentation of a medical insurance policy of a foreign insurer, which is problematic in the context of anti-Russian sanctions.

On December 19, the press service of the German Foreign Ministry stated that Germany is guided by the unified EU rules when deciding on the issuance of visas to Russian citizens and the applications of Russians associated with organizations from the sanctions list will be rejected.

On January 11, it became known that Switzerland would stop issuing visas to holders of passports issued in the new territories of Russia.
