Prior to the convocation of the regular session of the Diet, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDP) and the chairman of the Communist Party's Diet Affairs Committee held talks and agreed to pursue the government's policy of increasing taxes in line with the increase in defense spending. I confirmed that I would seek an explanation from Speaker of the House of Representatives Hosoda.

The Constitutional Democratic Party's Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Azumi and the Communist Party's Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Kokuta met in the Diet on the morning of the 16th and exchanged opinions on how to respond to the ordinary Diet session convened on the 23rd of this month.

At this meeting, the two leaders agreed to pursue the government's policy of increasing taxes in line with the increase in defense spending, saying that it was unacceptable that the decision was made without going through deliberations in the Diet.

Furthermore, Mr. Kokuta expressed his opposition to a significant increase in defense spending and an expansion of military armaments.

In addition, at the meeting, we will clarify the actual situation of the problem of the former Unification Church and promote relief for the victims, and we will ask Speaker of the House of Representatives Hosoda, who has been pointed out to have a relationship with the cult, to explain before the Diet is convened. Confirmed.

After the meeting, Mr. Azumi said, "In order to confront the LDP-Komeito government, I would like to find common ground as much as possible and manage the Diet. This ordinary Diet session will be against the opposition party of the 'Kishida tax increase cabinet.'"

Kokuta said, "We will work together to fully discuss and correct the current situation of ignoring the Diet and neglecting the people."
