Centerparity's election committee wants to see Muharrem Demirok as the new party leader.

But the two assault convictions have now come into focus.

The first case occurred in 1994 during high school in Botkyrka.

In the verdict, it is stated that Demirok abused another student in the school cafeteria by "giving him a so-called Danish skull in the face".

The victim: "Wanted to fight"

The second occurred on a January evening in 1999 at the former Nationernas hus union hall in Linköping, when Muharrem Demirok was 22 years old.

SVT has spoken to the crime victim.

- I was on my way out of the toilet.

For some inexplicable reason he pushed me with his shoulder, it was quite unnecessary.

I asked what he was doing and then he became very aggressive and wanted to fight, says the man, who wishes to remain anonymous.

In the verdict, it appears that a security guard then witnesses how Demirok scalps him over the left eyebrow, which results in a bleeding wound.

- There were a lot of people there, so I think it was quite stupid of him, he says.

The man says that he was not affected by the incident more than that the evening in question was ruined.

- I don't know how he has developed since then.

But I saw that he was convicted of a similar thing before.

Of course, he may have changed a lot in 24 years.

Muharrem Demirok went to Botvidsgymnasiet in Botkyrka in 1994. It was here that the first assault occurred.

Classmates tell SVT that he was otherwise quiet and calm.

Breached the candidate's declaration

Only a few weeks ago Muharrem Demirok chose to inform the selection committee about the events.

Something that may conflict with the Center's own guidelines on reporting "historical events that can affect trust" in the party's candidate declaration, reports Expressen.

On Sunday evening, Muharrem Demirok was asked in Agenda about the judges and why he did not tell about them earlier.

- When you are ashamed of something, you also bury it deep inside.

I made mistakes, he says.

Have you been violent more times?

- No.

So both times you did something like that you were convicted?

- Yes, but sometimes you end up in situations that you solve in a very bad way and I have solved these conflicts in the worst possible way.
