Wang Wenbin: On January 14, Ma Xiaowei, director of China's National Health Commission, had a telephone conversation with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, mainly exchanging views on the current epidemic prevention and control work.

The WHO Secretariat and Director-General Tan Desai highly appreciated the Chinese government's efforts to respond to the new crown epidemic, and thanked China for its long-term technical exchanges and sharing of epidemic information and data with WHO.

The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation in epidemic prevention and control, and jointly maintain global health security.

China always attaches great importance to its cooperative relationship with WHO, actively supports WHO in playing a leading and coordinating role in global solidarity against the epidemic, and maintains close exchanges with the WHO Secretariat and Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

China has shared information with the WHO and countries around the world since the early stages of the outbreak, reported the outbreak to the WHO as soon as possible, was the first to identify the pathogen and shared its gene sequence, and established a technical exchange mechanism with the WHO.

In the past month or so alone, China has had five technical exchanges and one phone call with the WHO.

China's positive contribution to global solidarity against the epidemic has been widely recognized by the WHO and the international community.

China will, as always, support the role of the WHO and unite the international community to fight the epidemic, and is willing to continue to share epidemic information with the international community, including the WHO, in accordance with the principles of law, timeliness, openness, and transparency, and jointly respond to the epidemic challenge.

It is hoped that all parties will uphold scientific and objective positions, respect and support China's prevention and control work, and make due contributions to the global solidarity against the epidemic.
